Volunteering and Skills

We are looking to hear from individuals and groups who would be prepared to gift some of their time and join our dedicated team of volunteers. You may wish to support the project through our sales and publicity stand at railway galas - encouraging and recruiting new contributors to support the project and raising funds through the sale of our branded items, B17 illustrated souvenirs and assorted railway artefacts. Unwanted railway books, including other themed transport books or artefacts, are also helpful – please get in touch if you have items you would like to donate, or bring them to one of our sales stand venues.

If you have specific commercial, management or engineering skills that would help to progress and evolve the project, we would like to hear from you.

Practical assistance on this project will be required in the future and some of this work could be at railway based sites. Members of the project wishing to get involved with practical activities should, in the first instance, contact Brian Hall on 07527 670436 for the necessary details. For example, it would be necessary for such volunteers to become members of the preserved railway and attend a Personal Track Safety course and any other induction processes currently in force. This is mandatory to ensure that volunteers attain a basic standard of understanding of working both safely and efficiently in a railway environment. All are welcome to participate and training can be given where required.
